Lucas Freeman was raised in Commerce and Picher, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he studied political science and religion in Oklahoma City. While in college, Lucas volunteered with local interfaith groups and political campaigns focusing on improving the community. After graduating in 2020, he worked in philanthropy for a year before deciding he needed to work with his hands more.
Since then, Lucas has moved back to Ottawa County. Now working as an Americorps VISTA with LEAD Agency, while completing training to be an electrician. For him, one of the best things about working with LEAD is the variety of projects. "One day it will be full focus on some government documents, the next, we’re removing dams from Tar Creek or showing researchers around the Superfund Site."
