Some people seem to like it better when I stick to the environment (which I am known for) instead of politics. But, war is worse for the environment than the local or regional fights we are undertaking right now on fracking, pipelines, bomb trains, water quality, etc. Our blocking actions against fossil fuels may panic the war machine in a way but probably not. The manufacture of products for war, along with war itself, wreak havoc to the environment, not just where war is waged but to our global climate. As this article states, those who were against the war that held positions of influence in the media were against the Iraq war (or even the Afghanistan war) are gone and never called on or hold any media position now. Media people and their experts don't seem to question or give rationale for why we shouldn't give arms to Saudi Arabia, for example, so they can continue bombing Yemeni. Or, how the Syria conflict was started by long term drought resulting in peaceful demonstrations during the Arab Spring that resulted in Assad's evil war against them and the opening of the door for Al Qaida, which morphed into isis there. I know this is simplistic, but what I am getting at is that as long as we, our military might, decide our "power" in the world, and that the world bases how nations treat and respect each other according the capability of their armies, then we are doomed to fossil fuel addition beyond our ability to control CO 2 or methane levels that will keep us within safe limits to avert catastrophic results. Our national, and therefore international, politics is our greatest environmental threat!! Who we elect NOW could mean the difference. THE CYCLE OF HATE IN THE WORLD IS AS BAD AS OUR ADDITION TO FOSSIL FUELS!!! Removing civilian power from fossil fuels is a big step but what about our military
dependence and our war machine’s need for war to manufacture and sell arms to conflicts? Are we factoring this in to our global warming calculations? If only humans realized that the health of our
Mother Earth is related to how human beings on Earth treat each other. Hate, fear, suspicion, war and brutality when combined with unprecedented ecological destruction on a global scale due to
human causes for lack of caring can only take us so far as a species. There is a point where the Earth will react in kind with catastrophic results.
The answer is too simple for most to understand and/or accept: LOVE! When humans learn to love each other and their place on this Earth, they will finally become true Human Beings, and will have
returned to the Garden!
